Why should I volunteer?

Because events and festivals don’t run on fairy dust and vibes alone – they run on people. Volunteering is basically the secret engine that makes the whole thing work, and there are some genuinely good reasons to do it:

You get access without the price tag. Many events and festivals trade volunteer shifts for free or discounted entry, meals, or merch. If you love live music, art, food, or culture, it’s a pretty sweet deal.

Typical Volunteering Roles

Your role as a volunteer is to complement the paid staff that are working. There are some tasks that only paid members of staff should do so it’s really important that you familiarise yourself with this handbook and stay within the boundaries of your volunteering role.

Parking Assistant Volunteer – Be the first on the scene by helping guests to park.

Your role will be to direct people to the correct car parks whether that be day parking or camping car parking, scanning car parking tickets and making sure people know where they are going.

Welcome Volunteer – Making sure guests find their way to the gates safely.

Your role will be to direct people to the correct gate. Put a smile on your face and get those guests in the mood for a great event ahead.

Gate Assistant Volunteer – Get the bands on!

Your role will be to assist the staff working on the gates – They’ll be scanning tickets and undertaking security checks, whilst you be helping guests to put their wrist bands on.

Litter Picking Volunteer – Keeping things clean and tidy!

Your role is much more than a litter picker. You will be wandering around the event and providing information to guests as and when needed. Most queries involve signposting to toilets, water taps, first aid and lost property.
